Förändra Skolsverigie – are we having the right conversation?

“We need to re-engage civil society in a debate about educational purpose.” Säger Keri Facer i podcasten: The future of education – are we having the right conversation?

Det pågår en intensiv och spännade dialog i FB gruppen Förändra SkolSverige. I denna dialog och i alla dialoger om hur skolan bör förändras måste vi även ställa oss frågor som:

Vilken värld vill vi leva i?

What kind of communities do we want to live in what kind of relationships  do we want to have?

Alla som engagerar sig i förändring av skolan bör ta sig  ca 7 minuter och lyssna på podcasten, där Keri Facer bl.a. säger

“For me the critical issue is that we have been working with one idea of the future for nearly twenty years.  The idea of the knowledge economy seems to imply that if only we make sure everybody is educated enough and ensure that they have enough technological skills then we will have a future where everybody will be economically secure.  I think this is contestable when we look at some of the economical and environmental developments that are likely to come about in the next ten years.  If we look carefully at the lived reality of a future ‘knowledge economy’, for example, it may be one of radical polarisation, inequality and injustice.  This is not necessarily an empowering future.

As educators we need to start thinking about the other sorts of futures we may want to support our students to create and inhabit.“

Jag har idag inga svar på vi hur skolan bör förändras, men jag har många tankar om vilken värld jag vill leva i. När vi för dialog om hur skolan bör förändras behöver vi samtidigt diskutera vilket samhälle vi vill leva i, vilket kan ge andra svar på hur skolan bör förändras än när vi tar utgångspunkt i skolans förändring.
